Leave the airport roundabout along the A3 motorway towards Lefkosa (Nicosia). In around 10km, be ready to fork left onto the A2 which is signposted to Lekosia and Larnaka (a different route into Larnaka). Stay ahead as the A2 merges with and becomes the A1. Reach the environs of Lefkosa and, soon after passing a large football stadium on the left, be ready to filter off left at Junction 3 for the B22/A9 signposted to Troodos, Strovolos and Keryneia (which is Kyrenia/Girne). Stay left on meeting the dual-carriageway, now heading west, as it skirts Lefkosa on the right. Keep straight ahead along this road, following signs to Lakatameia and Troodos, also Keryneia, which is interspersed by traffic lights and roundabouts. At the roundabout where the Troodos road turns off left, stay ahead, to Makedonitissa and Keryneia. Soon rise to a T junction, with a large Greek church over right, and turn right to Kioneli and Keryneia. Keep straight ahead at the next roundabout. Immediately past the Coca Cola factory reach traffic lights and turn left, still following signs to Kioneli and Keryneia. This long straight road leads directly to the border crossing, Metahan/Ag Demitrios. A slip road off left leads to the portacabin Greek checkpoint. Pull off before the Turkish portacabin checkpoint to purchase the mandatory car insurance required to enter the Turkish sector. The insurance cabin is clearly marked. Finally, have your passport stamped. Most people fill in a separate visa slip which is stamped instead of your passport. Slips are available at the passport window. Continue ahead and stay ahead at the roundabout. Turn left at the second roundabout towards Girne/Kyrenia. At the roundabout, with lights, turn right to the next large roundabout where a left turn leads directly to Kyrenia/Girne. Just before reaching Girne, a new by-pass leads off left to Alsancak and Lapta. At the next roundabout, stay ahead to reach the centre of Girne.
There are buses which leave the airport on a fairly regular timetable to Lefkosa. Their destination is near to the Hilton hotel on the eastern side of the city. Taxis are on hand for those wishing to transfer to the centre or Ledra Palace crossing point from where a pick-up can be arranged beforehand. Local buses also pass nearby to the central bus station, close to the city walls and the central pedestrian Lokmaci border crossing point.
There are plenty options available to ensure you find your accommodation after flights to Larnaca once you have landed.
